The story behind AKS Ilm
One question.
A growing journey.
The journey behind AKS Ilm began on April 8, 2023, during Ramadan, with a simple idea that came to mind: why not make learning about Islam a little more fun and interactive, not only for myself, but for others too? As Muslims, we are one Ummah, and beneficial knowledge is something worth learning and sharing together.
Looking back, none of this would have been possible without Allah’s guidance and permission. What began as a small idea was something Allah enabled me to pursue and gradually develop in ways I had never originally envisioned. Alhamdulillah for every step of the journey.
From Instagram to a shared habit
It all started with something simple: one multiple-choice Islamic trivia question at a time on Instagram. Alhamdulillah, people seemed to genuinely enjoy taking part, and I enjoyed creating the questions just as much. What I originally thought would be a Ramadan-only idea soon began to feel like something worth continuing, especially after friends encouraged me to keep it going.
And so, the questions kept coming. Some weeks brought more than others, but there was never a need to rush it. The idea remained simple: one question at a time, learn something beneficial and share it with others.
Giving the questions a permanent home
The more questions I created, the more I found myself enjoying the process behind them. Researching and verifying what I shared often meant learning something new myself, and sometimes a question that began as something for others ended up teaching me too. What started as a fun way to make Islamic learning engaging gradually became another way for me to reflect, strengthen my understanding of the Deen, and grow in my own journey as a Muslim.
Eventually, the collection reached a point where I wanted the questions and answers to have a permanent home rather than live only on Instagram. I wanted people to be able to go back, revisit older questions, and learn at their own pace. That led to the creation of the Islamic Trivia Library in late 2025, which is why AKS Ilm carries Est. 2025.
Growing with the same purpose
Since then, Alhamdulillah, what started with those simple Instagram questions has gradually grown into AKS Ilm, a broader Islamic learning resource. The Islamic Trivia Library remains at its heart, while interactive challenges, Islamic terminology, significant places connected to Islam, beneficial reminders, and other features have given people more ways to learn, explore, and reflect.
Through every stage, the purpose has remained the same: to make seeking beneficial Islamic knowledge engaging, accessible, and something we can share with one another. Whatever good comes from AKS Ilm is only by the permission and guidance of Allah, and I am grateful that He has enabled a small Ramadan idea to grow into what it is today.
May Allah accept this effort, place barakah in it, allow it to benefit others, guide it toward what pleases Him, and forgive any shortcomings. Ameen.
The Purpose
Ilm (علم) means “knowledge” in Arabic, and that meaning guides the purpose of AKS Ilm: to make seeking and sharing beneficial Islamic knowledge engaging and accessible. This independent educational resource brings together the Islamic Trivia Library and other ways to learn, explore, and reflect, with trivia remaining at its heart, InshaAllah.
Behind the Content
I take care to research what I share, referring to the Qur’an, authentic Hadith, and established Islamic sources where appropriate. I am continuing to learn myself, and creating AKS Ilm is part of that journey.
AKS Ilm is not a source of religious rulings or a substitute for qualified scholarship. And Allah knows best.
From Instagram to the Library
New trivia questions are first shared on Instagram. Once the answer has been shared there, the question and its answer are added to the Islamic Trivia Library, where they remain available to revisit.
Each addition follows the same process: an idea, research, verification, and sharing.
