Abbreviations & honorifics

These phrases express respect when mentioning Allah, the Prophets, and the Companions. Uppercase and lowercase abbreviations have the same meaning.

SAW · ﷺ: Ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam — May Allah bless him and grant him peace. Used after the name of Prophet Muhammad.
AS: ʿAlayhi as-salām — Peace be upon him. Used after the names of the Prophets.
RA: Raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu / ʿanhā / ʿanhum — May Allah be pleased with him / her / them. Used when mentioning the Companions.
SWT: Subḥānahu wa taʿālā — Glorified and Exalted is He. Used after the name of Allah.
